Statement from Delegate Scott on Gun Violence Prevention Legislation:
The bills that passed the House of Delegates yesterday were the culmination of years of advocacy and communication with concerned Virginians. These common-sense laws will allow us to work towards protecting children from unattended guns, prevent dangerous abusers from obtaining firearms, and provide families and law enforcement tools when loved ones are facing a mental health crisis and are armed. I’m proud to have voted in favor of these bills; when I campaigned to serve the people of Portsmouth, I told residents I would vote in favor of legislation that addresses our gun violence epidemic. Yesterday was a firm step in the right direction, and when these bills become law, will save lives.
